about wiki for last week blog

wiki is the best thing in my life when i first used it, for learning as a cyclopaedia it is really sucessful. But always have a question in my mind, how do wiki choose the information or acknowledge people added? millions people surfing at wiki and make their own explaining for some topic, is that right or realiable?
